5. Differentiation and Secondary Wall Formation
Wall dynamics. The wall changes in structure as a result of enzymes
and proteins such as expansins and XETs, and possibly hydrolytic enzymes (Nishitani
1995, Cosgrove 1997). Several of these proteins and enzymes have been identified,
and attempts at gene disruption have been attempted (Darley et al. 2001).
