3. Secretion and targeting pathways

Only a handful of mutations have been identified that affect processes directly involved in the secretion of polysaccharide-laden vesicles to their extracellular location. This machinery is intricately coupled with cytoskeleton, which is responsible for its dynamics. For this reason, these gene products are considered as part of the wall biogenesis pathways.
